Fujitsu and Amedia Networks to show first HD H.264 format video processing IC

Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA) will host a demonstration of Amedia Networks' new gateways, which use Fujitsu's MPEG-2 encoder and decoder technology with Amedia's wireless chip set to transmit bandwidth-intensive HD video wirelessly at distances up to 75 meters at the annual International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas January 8-11, Sands Hotel, booth 70809. Fujitsu will also demonstrate the industry's first large-scale IC for real-time compression and decompression of high-definition TV-level video in H.264 format. The new MB86H50 encoder/decoder IC, designed with Fujitsu's audio and video processing technology for high-resolution recording, playback and transmission of HD video, will be shown at the booth. Fujitsu will present its industry-leading fingerprint sensor ICs, which are being designed into biometric products ranging from the latest version of the Sentry Safe to the new Mobio®, a biometric handheld security device developed by Cryptolex Trust Systems. Also to be displayed at the booth is Fujitsu's graphics display controller technology, developed for in-vehicle navigation systems. New MB86H50 IC Wins Early Designs The Fujitsu MB86H50 is the first H.264 format video-processing IC to support the H.264 High Profile, Level 4.0 standard used in next-generation DVDs. It enables high-resolution recording, playback and transmission of high- definition video on audio-visual products such as portable A/V products, hard disk recorders, and home network equipment. The new device has been sampled to selected customers who will provide new products during the first quarter of 2007. The chip sample will become available in March 2007. Fingerprint Sensor ICs and Graphics Display Controllers The MBF200 single touch sensor and MBF310 Sweep Sensor(TM) from Fujitsu are moving into new applications as biometric technology emerges as a replacement or supplement for passwords and other forms of identification. In August, Fujitsu launched the MBF320 fingerprint IC, a small sweep sensor featuring pre-boot user authentication powered by Phoenix Technologies' TrustedCore PBA. The MBF320 is designed to be used in place of password authentication in notebook computers and mobile devices. The latest member of the Fujitsu family of graphics display controllers, the MB86297 is designed for sophisticated 3D point-of-view navigation systems for luxury class vehicles and low-end avionics. In October 2006, Fujitsu introduced a two-dimensional GDC, developed specifically for the North America market. Fujitsu now provides graphics display controllers for navigation applications to more than 50 percent of the worldwide market.
